HUMAN MACHINE INTERACTION / PRODUCT DESIGN

Developing an interface for a device that prompts and enhances the experience of introspection

Be, the introspective machine, was designed with the goal to explore an interface that helps a user communicate with themselves

  • There is a need for knowing yourself. It acts as a mental self correcting mechanism for ourselves.

  • Introspection is also needed as a tool for building self confidence and self esteem.

  • It can act as a motivator for some, creating a drive to strive for more.

  • At times, Introspecting over past events can also help come to terms with them, and move on.

On choosing to meditate, the device would give the user options to choose what kind of a Guided Mediation experience they desire. The user can choose among many options like Sleep, Depression, Calmness, Stress, Energy or Visualization Exercises.

In Introspection Mode, the user is then asked an open ended question designed to prompt the user into an introspective state of mind. These questions would be balanced between a general view on things and personal experiences of the user.

In the event of the user being unable to answer the question, or wishes not to answer it, the user must click on the CROSS to tell the device that it requests for another question.

In the event of the user wishing to answer the question, the user must click on the TICK to take the user to the next screen.

In Retrospection Mode, as the user begins using the device everyday and starts using the Introspective feature as a videolog/audiolog diary, memories from those entries shall also begin showing up in the time capsule.
